Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

If you feel like you’re struggling with your mental health, it can be difficult to know where to start with treatment. One of the cornerstones of mental health treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT therapy is a structured form of therapy that is based on the idea that the way we think and feel affects the way we behave.

At Alium Health, our specialist female CBT therapists are trained to help you work through whatever you need to, and we take a patient-centered approach.

CBT for Women

Our CBT program is comprised of structured sessions over a short period of time (typically between 5 and 20 weekly sessions for 45-50 minutes per session), and is designed with women in mind. Our female CBT specialists will start the program with an initial session that generally focuses on assessment, which helps women identify their symptoms and patterns that are causing the most problems. They will also set treatment goals alongside the client.

In the following sessions, the client will then present negative or maladaptive thoughts, and the therapist will work with them to help them challenge and change their thinking patterns.

Benefits of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Some of the benefits of CBT therapy include:

The short time it can be completed in is shorter compared to other types of therapy.

The highly structured nature of CBT means it can be provided in different formats, including in groups, self-help books and online.

CBT therapy teaches you useful and practical strategies that can be used in everyday life, even after the treatment has finished.

It can be as effective as medicine in treating some mental health problems and may be helpful in cases where medicine alone has not worked

Whatever you need CBT therapy for, our highly trained therapists can help you.

What mental health problems can CBT treat?

CBT is a common treatment for many mental health problems. These include anxiety, depression, OCD, perinatal mental health problems, stress, sleep problems, energy problems, and relationship problems. CBT can either be used as a standalone treatment, or combined with medication.
